TIME TO RING OUT THE OLD AND RING IN THE NEW

Friday, December 31, 2010

Well here we are in Australia with only a few hours to go before the bells will ring in the start of 2011 - and we face the year with hope in our hearts for health and happiness.

My new year wishes come to you from a thankful heart - thankful for many things - for the gift of life, a wonderful caring Donor family, Surgeons of great skill and a wonderful caring and compassionate nursing staff.

I have been cared for, prayed for and carried in hearts and thoughts all around the world.  With the time differences I don't think there was many times when I was not borne on the wings of prayer.

Thank you for your concern, your love and your friendship - to say that this year was a challenging one - would be to put it mildly, but I am trying to live each day with hope and a positive attitude.

Soon we can get back into sharing snippets of information and recipe and craft ideas for Christmas 2011.

Thank you too for following this blog and indulging me, it has been fun and a real sharing of ideas and recipes and your involvement means a lot to me.

So with a grateful heart I bid you all goodnight (I shall see the new year in by reading in bed) and a very happy new year.

Traditional Song
Modern English Translation
Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o’ lang syne!
Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!
We twa hae run about the braes,
And pu’d the gowans fine,
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary foot
Sin’ auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl’t in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
Sin’ auld lang syne.
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere,
And gie’s a hand o’ thine,
And we’ll tak a right guid willie-waught
For auld lang syne!
And surely ye’ll be your pint’ stoup,
And surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!
Times Gone By
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And days of long ago!
Chorus:
For times gone by, my dear
For times gone by,
We will take a cup of kindness yet
For times gone by.
We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the daisies fine,
But we have wandered many a weary foot
For times gone by.
We two have paddled (waded) in the stream
From noon until dinner time,
But seas between us broad have roared
Since times gone by.
And there is a hand, my trusty friend,
And give us a hand of yours,
And we will take a goodwill drink (of ale)
For times gone by!
And surely you will pay for your pint,
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet
For times gone by!

Love and hugs,
